“You have cancer”. You are sitting before an eminent oncologist at the best cancer treatment hospital in Kolkata. The oncologists are busy discussing among themselves to decide the best course of treatment. However, you are oblivion to what they say. The word ‘cancer’ has hit you so hard that you feel like being deaf and dumb. It is no less than a nightmare and the story is same for almost every cancer patient.
Easier said than done! You might yell at someone suggesting you should stay strong. I feel your plight. I have my personal experiences of watching the suffering, both physical and psychological, of cancer patients from a very close quarter. From receiving a diagnosis to undergoing treatment – all hell breaks loose on them. However, I feel the stories of cancer survivors may help you understand that there is life still left in you after cancer.
Today, I will talk about three cancer survivors. All of them have undergone treatment at Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre and Research Institute.
Krishna Bug has been undergoing cancer treatment at SGCCRI since January, 2022. She praises the doctors, nurses and other staff at SGCCRI, which is one of the leading cancer treatment and research institutes in Eastern India. The hope, the confidence and the satisfaction on her face cannot go unnoticed. An oncologist gives the patient hope and confidence that cancer is very much treatable if diagnosed in early stages. We hope that Smt. Bug recovers, gets back home and lives a very healthy and happy life for years. Our best wishes are always with her!
Cancer is not a death sentence – Abanish Chandra Chanda has proved it. In fact, Advancements in cancer diagnosis and treatment have proved that people with cancer can live long if they visit the best cancer hospital in Kolkata without any delay. Mr. Chanda visited SGCCRI in 2002. He underwent successful cancer treatment and keeps visiting the hospital for regular checkup. He is from Sylhet, Bangladesh. Thousands of cancer patients from our neighbouring countries – mainly, Bangladesh and Nepal – keep coming to SGCCRI. It shows the strength of infrastructure and advanced treatment in our hospital industry.
Shraboni Bhattacharya was admitted to SGCCRI on 21st May, 2022 for a lump in her throat. She looks and sounds very confident. Smt, Shraboni is all praise for the quality of treatment and care she has received at the hospital. We wish her Best of Luck.
These three patients had cancer but they decided to fight back. I am not using the word ‘CURE’ here because cancer is yet to find a permanent answer. This is why, regular check-up is a must to look for any signs of recurrence.
What Can These Motivational Stories Teach You?
First, you are not alone. Millions have got the disease; some survived, some succumbed. They give you an important lesson – cancer may end many lives but life does not always end with cancer. If diagnosed in early stages, treatment can keep you in good health for years. In fact, modern medical science has made it possible to help some people with stage 4 cancer (usually, breast, prostrate, thyroid) live a decade or more. Though the number is few still it gives hope.
